Eden Hall Cottage

Eden Hall Cottage offers a relaxing and luxurious getaway on the Norfolk coast.

Uncovered by the founder of Plum & Ashby, while exploring ‘Hidden Norfolk’, Eden Hall Cottage has been a labour of love, restored to create a calm and relaxing ‘home from home’.

From the handcrafted kitchen, by the award-winning Humphrey Munson, to the huge, freestanding, cast iron baths and unique, individually sourced furniture, the spacious cottage abounds character, luxury and the personal touch.

The self-catering cottage sleeps up to ten people and is perfectly positioned just a short five-minute walk from the beach. It’s an ideal location for visiting the broads, National Trust properties, ancient woodlands, hidden beaches and award-winning pub, the Gunton Arms.

Entering through the original back door of the cottage into the hall, you will find a bootroom to your left. There is plenty of room for coats, hats, wellingtons and a cosy place for any dogs to sleep.

Moving through to the oldest part of the cottage, dating back to 1750, there is a large living room. Painted in soft blue and complimented with two inviting, washed-linen sofas, flat screen TV and open fire; a lovely room to relax and unwind after a busy day. French doors open out to a walled garden to the front of the house. A perfect suntrap!

A door leading off the living room takes you into a hall and then into Bedroom 4. This room has a king-sized bed but can also be divided into two single beds if required. The room has two windows with red ticking stripe blinds and matchboard headboard painted in Plummett by Farrow and Ball. Back in the hall, there is a second door leading to the en suite. This room has a walk-in shower, is tiled in hexagon marble and features an antique bronze shower.

Taking the stairs to the first floor, you will find three further bedrooms, all with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. Firstly, we have bedroom 1, with a king-sized bed and en suite bathroom. This room has a large statement headboard and wall lighting to create a relaxing space.

Bedroom 2 is also king-sized and has an upholstered bed from the White Company. It also has the original built-in cupboards for hanging and storage space, a little fireplace and antique chest of drawers. Bedroom 3 is most suitable for children, with a set of bunk beds and a row of handy hooks for hanging clothes.

Bedroom 2 & 3, both make use of the Family bathroom opposite. This room features panelling painted in Plummett by Farrow & Ball. It has a large walk-in shower with bronze, drenching shower head and a huge cast iron bath.

Retuning downstairs, you will find the kitchen / dining / living space. This is a spacious, bright room, again with vaulted ceiling and has a large, reclaimed, wooden, table, which is ideal for entertaining. The kitchen was handcrafted by the very talented Humphrey Munson and features antique brass hardware and a large granite central island. There is an under-counter fridge, beautiful Lacanche range cooker and a Perrin and Rowe instant hot tap, ever ready to make tea or coffee. Leading off from the kitchen is a utility / pantry containing a dishwasher, washer/dryer and large American-style fridge freezer to ensure plenty of space for food and drink.

Continuing through the kitchen, there is some relaxed seating before you reach Bedroom 5, or, as we like to call it, ‘the Boat Yard’. The Boat Yard is a striking room, with a king-size four-poster bed and hand-crafted zinc side tables. The monochrome styling is continued with a black and white striped blind by Ian Mankin and antique chest of drawers. Double doors, lead you to a large en suite. With a marble tiled, walk-in shower, an antique brass basin stand, specially commissioned for the room, a huge free-standing cast iron bath, shiplap panelling and limestone floor tiles by Humphrey Munson, this sumptuous bathroom is perfect for relaxing in.

Outside, the cottage is fully enclosed with a large flint wall to the front of the property ensuring tranquil privacy. Large gates open onto the driveway to the side of the cottage, providing ample parking for up to 6 cars. As well as the walled outside space to the front of the cottage, there is a rear garden providing 100 sqm of lawn and various mature fruit trees. There is also comfortable outdoor seating as well as a large dining table, a BBQ and fire pit, perfect for sitting around in the evening and toasting marshmallows.

Every care has been taken to protect the character of the cottage but also modernise to make a comfortable home. The oldest part of the cottage is heated with new cast iron column radiators while the kitchen and Boat Yard feature the latest underfloor heating technology. Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the house and fully integrated with the smart TVs. The hot water system is a pressurised water tank allowing multiple showers to run simultaneously.
